Banbury Bulls 110 Kenilworth 10
This was a great day for Banbury, a pre match lunch, a packed stadium and a stella performance from their 1stXV Men’s squad. Kenilworth never gave up and showed they are capable of producing some continuity to score two well taken tries. However, Banbury managed to score a plethora of points through great set piece, dynamic play, dominant physicality, great offloads and precision handling. The score at half time was 42 points to 5 and the writing was on the wall for Kenilworth.
In all Banbury scored 15 tries from open field play, one penalty try and fourteen conversions. Quinten Blyth on the right wing for Banbury was awarded man of the match as he was instrumental in finishing the moves wide out. Tommy Gray could not miss with his conversions scoring twenty-eight points with lots of those kicks from wide out.
Kenilworth’s scorers were Jack Swan-McAdam from a well-executed move after good continuity from the forwards and slick handling in the backs. The other try came from Paddy Grace following a forward drive off a lineout. In truth this was a hard day at the office for the Kenilworth players and this season so far has been a steep learning curve for some of the younger players. Rallying the troops together is now really important.
Next Saturday Kenilworth play Syston at home with a Kick off at 2.15. with a Services pre match lunch before the game.
