Kenilworth U14s – Match Report

Kenilworth 24 – 12 Southam

A damp start at Kenilworth, but a useful outing ahead of the upcoming semi-final and a chance for plenty of experimentation across the field.

The first half was fairly even as we chopped and changed positions to test a few combinations. Southam kept things tight and it finished 5–5 at the break.

The second half saw the lads settle despite the continued rotation. Kenilworth found a bit more rhythm and pulled clear to finish 24–12 winners. More importantly, it was one of those games that gave us plenty of learning ahead of knockout rugby.

Standouts:

Ted Jones with some solid hits, Theo Greavy putting in great tackles, and good work at scrum-half from Evan Booth and Dan Murphy. A good return as well for Thomas Taylor.

Player of the Match (ref’s pick):

Jack “The Ripper” Stewart.

Scorers: Toby Miller, Ed Vigor, Charlie Hamill, Evan Bahey

Conversions: Charlie Hamill, Ed Vigor

A good day’s work and useful preparation for the semi-final with Sutton Coldfield in two weeks.
