Kenilworth RFC recent put on its (rather delayed) St David’s Night Dinner to celebrate a key day in the traditional Welsh calendar with the star attraction being the Tenovus Choir from Swansea.

Included among the guests were two Ukrainian ladies who are refugees from the war; they are Dana and Roksa, Dana’s husband (Roksa’s father) is still fighting in Eastern Ukraine. They were made extremely welcome to the evening and presented with Kenilworth Rugby Club shirts which, by happy coincidence, are in the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag.

Those present enjoyed the entertainment from the Bard of Glasshouse Lane - Lyndon Jeremiah - and the harmonies of the Tenovus choir itself.

The event is normally an annual one but was postponed and delayed due to the pandemic. Over £2,000 was raised on the night for Tenovus Cancer Care [a Welsh cancer charity that supports cancer patients and their families, funds cancer research and works to raise awareness of how to prevent cancer].

Kenilworth Rugby Club is happy to welcome any people (adults or children) seeking refuge from the war in Ukraine to join us free of charge for the use of our facilities, to exercise or just to socialise.
